I’m excited to introduce myself as your Republican candidate for sheriff in the upcoming 2026 election. My name is Heath White, and I am deeply rooted in this community. I was born and raised in Rushville, and my journey in public service began early. At just 13, I started volunteering with the ambulance service as an EMS Explorer. By 19, I became a certified paramedic.
I spent 24 years as a dedicated firefighter and paramedic. My leadership roles include serving as the Rushville Fire Chief and the full-time Beardstown Fire and Ambulance Chief. In these positions, I worked hard to increase collaboration between cities and townships, all in the interest of enhancing public safety.
In 2006, I expanded my career by adding a part-time role in law enforcement with the Beardstown Police Department, where I graduated from the police academy.
In 2001, I married my wife, Lindsay Cunningham, and together we are raising our wonderful children, Madison and Charli, here in Schuyler County.

Currently, I’m a full-time deputy with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, where I’ve been assigned to investigations. I am also certified by the Illinois Police Training and Standards Board.
The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office is staffed with dedicated professionals. As your sheriff, I will equip them with the tools and training they need to serve with excellence and integrity. Embracing technology and innovation, I am committed to enhancing our capabilities to keep our community safe.
Having successfully secured over a million dollars in grants I understand the importance of bringing resources to our county to improve services and safety.
Public service is a calling I take seriously. With 24 years in law enforcement, Firefighting and EMS I am passionate about protecting and serving our community with the respect and dignity you deserve.
